CUSTOMS, DUTIES & TAXES

Orders shipped outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. UPS, FedEx and other Carriers also charge additional brokerage fees. These fees are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient’s country and must be fulfilled by the recipient; Heavy Truck Solutions has no control over these charges, nor can we predict what they may be. Click here to get an estimate. For question #3 “Was the product made in a NAFTA country?”, Select yes.

If you do not pay your import fees and your shipment is returned to us, we will refund your order minus all credit card processing/PayPal fees, a restocking fee, and all shipping costs incurred by us. This is includes what we paid to ship your order to you (even if you received free shipping as we still paid for shipping) as well as any return shipping fees were are charged by the carrier.

HOW TO AVOID CANADA ‘CUSTOMS BROKERAGE CHARGES’

To avoid extra ‘Brokerage Customs Charges” levied by UPS (USPS does NOT charge brokerage fees), you will need to self-clear the package and deal directly with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). We can’t guarantee this, but have heard of others doing this successfully. It’s a simple 4 step process:

  1. Inform UPS that you will self-clear and pay duties and/or taxes directly with CBSA. Once tracking shows that your package has arrived at your local UPS warehouse & prior to receiving your shipment, contact the carrier and inform them you will self-clear and you will pay duties and/or taxes directly to CBSA.
  2. Get your ‘Commercial Invoice’ & local UPS address. Call UPS at 1-800-PICK-UPS, press “3” to be connected to the billing department and ask a customer service representative to email or fax your shipment’s ‘Commercial Invoice”. Also, find out the address of where your package is being held.
  3. Visit your local CBSA office that offers accounting services to the public to pay duties and/or taxes. Click here for locations. You do NOT need to pay at the exact location your package is being held. You will need to bring 4 things with you: (1) Your shipment tracking number, (2) Two copies of your commercial invoice and (3) Your personal identification and (4) Address of where your package is located. You will be given an official receipt indicating that you have paid.
  4. Call UPS at 1-800-PICK-UPS to ask how you can provide proof of payment to the brokerage department & schedule pick-up/delivery of your package.

Missing Package?

If you think your package is lost or delayed, follow these steps to help us find it. We insure and assume all risk up until the shipment is marked as delivered. Once marked delivered by the carrier, the risk of loss and title of goods is passed to you.

1. CHECK TRACKING STATUS

Before we begin your search, check USPS or UPS to see its current tracking status. Your tracking number can be found in your shipping confirmation email or on your invoice. Ifd it shows as delivered, check with other members of your household, neighbors, and/or your rental office to see if anyone has seen or is holding your package.

2. VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS

Verify your current mailing address with the address that is on your receipt. There may be a simple typo. If this is the case, you can call the carrier to intercept the package and redirect delivery.

3. CONTACT THE CARRIER

Call the carrier listed on your receipt/invoice and see if they can give you any insight into your package. Sometimes they have more information than what we can see online. They may even have your package on hold for you.

4. WAIT 1 BUSINESS DAY

Wait 1 business days after it is either estimated to arrive or marked as delivered by carrier. We have seen that some shipments marked as delivered by the post office may NOT mean it has been physically delivered, just that it has been scanned as its loaded into the truck and it may show up soon. Also, we cannot submit a missing mail piece request with the carrier unless it has been a certain number of days past its expected delivery date.

5. AFTER 1 DAY – SUBMIT A SEARCH REQUEST

If it has been 1 business day after your estimated time of arrival, contact us to submit a Missing Mail Search Request.

*Search requests can take up to 32 business days. Exceptions apply and time-frame is not guaranteed.
